Rolex Datejust

We were invited to pitch by director Kevin Mckiernan and Evoke Films to create an animation for celebrating the heritage of Rolex’s Datejust watch. We tell the story of the datejust’s inception as the world’s first chronometric, waterproof wrist watch with the date in a window.
The animation we produced was a collage of different animation techniques, assets from Rolex ranged from motion controlled film to grainy super 8 footage. To illustrate the breadth of Rolex’s history as a watchmaker we combined modern techniques of animation with traditional ones. The datejust watch was modelled and produced in 3d it was also illustrated and animated in stopframe, frame by frame.
